Basic Home Pest Control

Pest control in the home is very important. Without effective strategies in place to ward off insects and rodents, you may find that you end up with a major infestation on your hands.

Much of domestic pest control is a matter of common sense and good household planning. Unless you have a serious problem which necessitates technical Anti Pigeon devices or complex mouse traps, you should be able to keep your household pest-free by implementing just a few basic principles.

To begin with, you will want to make sure that you keep food and drink stored in cool, dry places that are easy to seal. This means that you should never leave scraps lying around on your kitchen counter, for example, or keep your bread or butter out in the open.

In addition, you will want to ensure that your household waste is managed effectively. The smaller bins from each room in your home should be regularly emptied into a larger, communal bin, and this should be kept outside, away from the house.

If you live in an especially warm part of the country or your house is located near to water, you may also want to install screens over the entrances and exits; this kind of addition will help to keep small insects and flies from invading your home.
